Fast-Track Data Center, Undisclosed Client/Location

Fast-Track Data Center, Undisclosed Client/Location

This fast-track project incorporated approximately 14,000 square feet of renovated data center and UPS rooms to be completed within five months. Electrical requirements included two new 750 kVA UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, expansive power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and EPO systems. Despite having to deal with restrictive site access, limited use of the loading docks, badging and security requirements, and nearly 30 change bulletins, over 200 RFIs, and more than 200 drawing revisions, VarcoMac was able to complete its scope of work on time and without any schedule extension. To help ensure its success, VarcoMac implemented Lean Construction practices to reduce material deliveries and waste, utilized BIM modeling to coordinate MEP trades and identify conflicts before they could impact the job, and worked multiple shifts around the clock.
