Position: Purchasing Assistant (Full-Time)
VarcoMac is seeking a talented individual for the position of Purchasing Assistant to join our purchasing team. The potential candidates for this position are detail oriented with a high level of understanding in the commercial electrical industry. Candidates must be well organized with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high output in a fast-paced environment. This position will report to the Purchasing Manager and become part of a successful electrical organization with the opportunity for growth as we expand our footprint in the Washington DC and Baltimore Markets.
Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Purchasing Manager as followed:
Receive and take email orders for materials, equipment, and tools for service and construction projects
Shopping of material requisitions for best price and availability through the company’s vendor network
Evaluate quotes for best value and terms.
Negotiate terms of purchase orders.
Process purchase orders through the company accounting system and vendors.
Process order acknowledgements and arrange deliveries to site personnel.
Maintain procurement records.
Expediting of critical orders through vendor relationships and outside resources
Maintain vendor relationships
Assist Accounts Payable department with invoicing and purchase order issues
Assist with shipping and receiving.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the commercial, industrial, and governmental electrical markets is helpful
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel, exchange, word.
- Proficient in procurement best practices and procedures
- Highly functional and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Procurement/Purchasing experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Previous procurement experience a plus
- 3-5 years of employment history
- Electrical Trade School or Associate’s degree a plus
- Willing to train the right person
