Signature Theatre

Signature Theatre

The Signature Theatre project demonstrates some of VarcoMac's finest ingenuity and craftsmanship to date. Part of the new Shirlington Town Center, the 48,000 square foot, four story Signature Theatre features two black-box theaters, a retail store, a wine bar, office space for theater staff, three rehearsal studios, scenery and costume shops, and enough dressing rooms to accommodate up to 41 performers.

Perhaps the most stunning aspect of the building is the Mead Lobby. A striking, modern chandelier hangs from the ceiling of the second floor over a winding metal staircase that cascades down below. Each step of the staircase is illuminated by a computer controlled strip of multi-colored LEDs. From a distance, the staircase comes alive with color as hues of purple, blue, and red appear to move up and then down the staircase. VarcoMac was heavily involved with the placement and configuration of the LED controllers, which are discreetly tucked away under a section of the staircase.
